Meet Danijela Sandberg

Danijela Sandberg is the Highway Commissioner of Algonquin Township, a position she has held since being elected 2021. She is the first female Highway Commissioner elected in McHenry County. In her capacity as Highway Commissioner, she oversees day-to-day operations of the Road District. She has focused on fiscal responsibility and transparency. Danijela strives to give residents an opportunity to communicate with their closest form of local government.

Before her career as a public servant, she worked in the private sector for a handful of Fortune 500 companies. Danijela volunteers with many organizations such as the Rotary Club of Cary-Grove, Autism Speaks, amongst others. She is also volunteer membership recruitment director, for S.A.F.E., McHenry County, an organization that works on educating individuals on public safety. She is a proponent of education and training – she holds over 200 hours of continuing education, many certifications including OSHA and State of Illinois Traffic Incident Management. Danijela enjoys public service and giving back to our community.
